The next iteration of Windows

Windows 12 is a free utility application for PC devices developed by Microsoft. It is the next iteration of the company's popular Windows operating system for desktop and laptop computers. It refines the experience that Windows 11 brought to the table transitioning from Windows 10, as well as various new features and options to take advantage of.

Sticking to the new design language that Windows 11 introduced, the new Windows 12 OS instead improves upon it, specifically implementing a new desktop UI based on the feedback and suggestions from users.

Something new on the horizon

Windows 11 is still relatively new but there are already rumors and news about the next version of Microsoft's popular OS. Various leaks on Windows 12 shed some light on what you can expect, the first of which is an improved desktop UI. Of note is the change to a floating taskbar at the bottom and the new system tray placement at the top.

Updates have never been a strong suit of this OS, and Windows 12 is looking to address that with State Separation, which basically dedicates a partition for core system functions, therefore allowing them to be updated more seamlessly. In addition, it will drop support for 32-bit Arm apps following the industry in transitioning toward 64-bit architectures, which will benefit performance in the long run.

Lastly, it will have deeper AI integration for various features and functions. This move is already with Windows 11 and the introduction of its Copilot AI assistant, so you can expect more implementation in the future. These are all that is currently known about the new OS, and information is still limited. However, signs point to a possible 2024 release, thus you won't have to wait for much longer.

Exciting times for Windows users

All in all, if you were one of those who jumped to Windows 11 when it came out and liked using it, then the upcoming Windows 12 is something to get excited about. The things mentioned above are just a few things you can expect, and they serve to enhance the user experience even further with thoughtful changes and additions.
